Is This (Ridiculously Simple) Thing Keeping You Stuck?

Are you stuck?

  • Do you want to accomplish something but can't seem to get traction?
  • Are you repeating the same patterns over and over again, like starting and stopping and then re-starting?
  • Are you frustrated because you just can't seem to make progress?

 

In today's Working Mom Wednesday video, I share with you one powerful tool you can use to get unstuck and make progress toward your goals.

 

And, the craziest thing is that the tool (1) doesn't take you any extra time (it's a shift to what you're already doing) and (2) it applies to any goal you're working toward. Can't beat that!

 

The tool is shifting the questions you ask yourself.

 

We ask ourselves questions all day long (and even while we sleep). Our subconscious answers them, and in the most literal way possible.

So, it's critical to look at the type of questions you're asking yourself. Are they productive or unproductive?

For example, are you asking unproductive questions like:

  • Why can't I find the time to spend with my kids?
  • Why don't I ever get a promotion?
  • Why can't I ever get my work done?
  • Why can't I lose weight?

Most of us are. It's human nature to ask this type of question.

And, our brain goes to work answering these unproductive questions. It confirms what you're asking it.....that you can't, you won't, you shouldn't.

 

Instead, switch the question to something productive:

  • How can I find more time to spend with the kids?
  • How can I get that promotion?
  • How can I get my work done?
  • How am I someone who loses weight?

Try asking yourself one question you really want the answer to before you go to bed each night. Let your brain do some work to find the answer while you're sleeping. The answer will pop out when you're in the shower, on a walk, in a meeting, at some point.

This is taking your brain in the direction you want it to go, and on purpose.
